Description
1983 reggae album by John Holt. The title track was written in response to the United States pressuring Jamaica to burn their cannabis fields and to help reduce the amount of marijuana being smuggled into the United States: “We don’t trouble your banana, we don’t trouble your corn, we don’t trouble you pimento, we don’t trouble you at all.”
“John Holt, both as a member of the Paragons and as a solo artist, had established himself as the master of pop with a multitude of love, love lost, and other typically pop-themed hit singles. However, with Police in Helicopter, the singer reinvented himself as a more contemporary, cultural artist… Police is a true classic album on which a great vocalist and songwriter comes of age” – All Music
