Description
Released in 1993, The Posies’ third studio album Frosting On The Beater featured a darker sound than their previous sunshiny power pop LPs. This was partly due to the production style of Don Fleming, who previously worked with Sonic Youth, Hole and the Screaming Trees amongst others. The album spawned three singles, “Dream All Day”, “Solar Sister” and “Definite Door” and was a landmark guitar-focussed album in the post-grunge landscape of the nineties. Songwriter Jon Auer engineered and part-produced You Am I’s classic Hi-Fi-Way album and both he and guitarist Ken Stringfellow would go on to play and record in the reformed Big Star with original members Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens.
