Poet, singer-songwriter, actor and director, Serge Gainsbourg (1928-1991) was the quintessential rebel provocateur. His decadent lifestyle, cynical sense of humor and propensity for scandal were as important to his legend as his music.
Considered the greatest French songwriter of the ‘60s and ‘70s, Gainsbourg shocked, offended and delighted Europe with his lascivious public persona and songs that contained risqué sexual themes and a strong dose of nihilism.
