Pan's Labyrinth (Blu-ray)
Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) is a young girl living in a remote mountain village in Spain in 1944. To escape the upheaval and hardship her family faces following her father's death, Ofelia creates a world of escape in her mind. It's a beautiful place, though not without its dark side, but she's guided by a ghastly yet kindly fawn creature.
In the real world, her new stepfather, Captain (Sergi López), is only interested in the infant son carried by Ofelia's mother and gives little affection to Ofelia or her mother. Following revelations of corruption in the encampment, the increasingly manic and paranoid Captain assassinates anyone who looks at him the wrong way with alarming regularity, leading Ofelia to seek refuge in her fantasy world.
